About me

Hi! I have a BS in Applied Mathematics and am currently working on a MS in Applied Mathematics at Texas A&M. I live here in Ave Maria and my wife and I are homeschooling our kids. We are very happy with the homeschool community here, and I would love to help your kids with math! As I am a Step Up for Students Provider we can schedule time through the portal or I can give you a billing statement for reimbursal. See the FAQ for more details.

I am a chiropractor by profession and had a successful practice in California for 14 years before moving here. I am seeing patients as well here in Ave Maria, so if you are interested in learning more about that go to patrickdobbins.com. I work on the young and old, from 3 months to 90 years, and everyone in between!

Frequently asked questions

How do I book an appointment with you?

If you would like to use your Step Up For Students scholarship you will need to find me through the marketplace. Search for Ave Maria Mathematics Tutoring and request service through the marketplace. We will then be in contact to set up a day and time.

What are your fees?

I charge $50 per hour. If you are using the SUFS scholarship the payment will come through the marketplace. You may also pay me personally and I can email you a billing statement which you can use for SUFS reimbursement.

What math subjects and grades do you cover?

I can work with all age groups K-12. Usually the parents are able to help with the younger kids but I am available if needed. As the math content gets more advanced I am available for weekly sessions. I can help with arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus, everything in-between and above.

How often can we meet?

I am available to meet once a week per student.

How do the weekly sessions work?

I prefer to have the homework one week in advance of the session so I am able to work the problems and provide the solutions and guidance as best I can. During the session we will cover the homework questions and solutions and answer any questions the student may have.

Where do we meet?

We can meet anywhere in Ave Maria. I prefer to meet at either the AMU library or the club at Maple Ridge.
